Kerrville-Schreiner State Park

Kerrville-Schreiner State Park is located in Kerr County Texas which is about an hour and a half northwest from San Antonio on I10.  The Texas State Parks web site has a map of the park.  Note that the web site map is out of date.  The Rangers hand out a more recent map.   North is not up on the map.  It also isn't to scale.   Also, the actual trails don't match the map information.

The park is outside the City of Kerrville.   The Kerrville Convention and Visitors Bureau maintains a web site that has several links to attractions in the surrounding area.  Kerrville is in a region of Texas known as Hill Country.
The park is split by a two lane highway.  When you arrive, you need to check into the ranger station on the left hand side of the highway.  Then, you have to cross the highway to get to the part of the park where we were staying.  To get into the other are of the park, you must have an access code for the gates.

 After we checked into the ranger station, we crossed back over the highway into the section where our campsite was.  The deer were everywhere.

The nights we were here, the park was full (the section with sewer hookups).  The campground is nice and well laid out.

The park is on the Guadeloupe River.  Here is the park at sunrise in the fog looking out over the Guadeloupe River.

The park has a nice play area for children on the river side of the park.

 We walked trails and roads at the park.

We did our campfire thing.  We roasted wieners and cooked our baked beans in the can.
