| The Museum of the
Big Bend is located in Alpine , Texas. The museum is part of Sul Ross State University. The museum
doesn't maintain much of a permanent collection. Instead, every three months or so,
they change out the main exhibit. Today was the first day of The Buffalo Soldier
exhibit. The wooden shipping crates the exhibit was shipped in was being removed
from the exhibit space while I was looking about. You may want to check the museum's
web site to see what the exhibit will be on display before making a special trip.
The docents watching over the museum are quite helpful. Since the exhibit was
new, they hadn't had much time to become familiar with it. I liked the Overland Trail Museum in Fort Davis better than the Museum of the Big Bend. |
