Passengers from Molokai bound for Lahaina wait as the Molokai Princess backs into the Lahaina docks around 7:00 AM in the morning.

While the passage between Lahaina and Molokai is often calm in the morning, the trips later in the day often experience much rougher seas. You should consider motion sickness remedies.

The ferry company offers tours of Molokai bundled in with the ferry passage. We took the Alii Tour.

Passengers on the upper decks often get soaked when afternoon winds kick up waves. Fortunately in the mornings the winds are generally calm.

We talked with this fellow at the docks before boarding the Molokai Princess. He had been up traveling from the mainland to Molokai for the past 24 hours. He is just watching the world go by.

Behind the woman in the foreground an infant sleeps on an outside table located on the aft ferry deck.

Father and son look out over the water from the back of the ferry.

The Alii Tour van waits patiently on the dock to take us lucky few out for a day of sightseeing.
